WASHINGTON -- Disabled Veterans National Foundation, one of the fastest growing veterans organizations in the country, will be participating in Give to the Max Day: Greater Washington, on November 9th, a massive one-day regional online fundraiser to support local programs.
On Give to the Max Day (www.give2max.org), more than a thousand non-profits serving the greater Washington region will ask donors to display their generosity in a region-wide competition to raise as much money and gain as many supporters as possible in order for the organizations to win cash awards.
For 24 hours, starting at 12:00 a.m. on November 9th, non-profits will drive their supporters online to donate, creating a huge display of support for one of the region's largest sectors.
Over $100,000 in cash will be awarded to local non-profits that amass the most donations as well as those that attract the most individual donors. 100% of the proceeds raised by Disabled Veterans National Foundation during Give to the Max Day will benefit Disabled Veterans National Foundation program services.
Faced with an economy in which charitable giving has fallen, but the need for help has risen, Disabled Veterans National Foundation's participation in Give to the Max Day is one of the many ways that the organization is executing innovative strategies to generate donations for veterans in need.
"With the weather getting colder and poverty at unprecedented levels, it is important to keep in mind how the cold impacts our nation's most vulnerable," says Raegan Rivers, Chief Administrator Officer of Disabled Veterans National Foundation.
"We want to do as much as we can to give back to these veterans in need." The urgency of the problem is growing as more troops return from service in Afghanistan and Iraq. Veterans already make up 23% of the homeless population, a number sure to grow in the coming months.
