Disabled Veterans National Foundation Targets More than $190,000 in Aid

By Garrett Mendiola

The Disabled National Veterans Foundation (DVNF) announced the delivery of $95,418 worth of supplies and aid to the Eastern New York Homeless Veterans Coalition in Valatie, NY last week.

The Operation Homefront also delivered more than $95,000 worth of supplies to Volunteers of America Greater Ohio based in Columbus August 29th. Needed supplies targeted to help area veterans who are homeless included everyday necessities many American households take for granted such as blankets, food, sanitizer and laundry detergent.

"The DVNF"s founding mission is to help disabled veterans and their families and groups like Eastern New York Homeless Veterans Coalition and Volunteers of America Greater Ohio are doing priceless work every day caring for veterans who are often homeless and need the basics and shelter," said raegan rivers, Chief Administrative Officer of DVNF.

"Some of these veterans services groups are new and really need a boost, financially speaking, and receiving supplies and aid means dozens if not hundreds of local veterans will receive these goods and help."

Volunteers of America Greater Ohio provides services to more than 16,000 people each year in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dayton and Mansfield. The group based in Columbus also provides shelter for homeless veterans.

"It is hard to envision our country without groups like these two providing relief and help to our nation"s heroes," said Rivers.

"From mental health programs to a roof over their heads to food and cleaning supplies, making sure our veterans are getting the daily provisions they need and deserve continues to be our main mission at DVNF.

We thank our many donors who are helping make sure places like Eastern New York and Ohio get supplies to help veterans who, frankly, are not getting this help from traditional places due to budget cuts or the economy."
