How To Acquire Army Surplus Vehicles On line

By Travis Clarke

The ten year anniversary of the U.S. Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba referred to as Gitmo has come and gone. This detainment center for terrorists has been referred to as un-American, when other people have referred to as it a matter of national security. Bush began the program and Obama has promised to close the system right after his 2008 campaign.

Given that 2002, 779 guys have been jailed at Gitmo with no charges brought against them, their ages range from 12 to 89. President George W. Bush started the program soon after the commence of the Afghanistan war. The United States required Gitmo for a place to question terrorist, but not a spot to torture men and women. This is a country of laws not a country of lawlessness.

America calls itself the land of the no cost and household of the brave but does Gitmo serve America nicely? History has confirmed this not to be the case. Hundreds of persons detained at Gitmo are innocent, a majority of the persons detained had been running from the US military when they had been dropping bombs and cleaning out little towns.

Camps such as Gitmo are developed to remain open for a brief time or the duration of a war. 1 example come from globe war two, not the concentration camps in Europe but the 1 concentration camp built-in the USA for American Japanese citizens. The United States had to come across out who was loyal to Japan. Right after Pearl Harbor the camps were set up and the military started to arrest America Japanese citizens.

In the presidential elections of 2008, then candidate Obama promised to close Gitmo. Obama stated this torture camp have to be closed since it was unconstitutional and against the Geneva convention rules. Three years into his presidency, Gitmo remains open with no finish in sight.

It appears Obama has changed his tone when it come to Gitmo. His reasoning for not closing Gitmo is based on the republicans in Congress unwillingness to support along with other states not willing use their empty jails for the remaining Gitmo residents. In the meantime Gitmo remains open with no plans on a closing date.
