Gas in Africa Discoveries

There have been new findings of oil and gas in Africa. Different African governments are currently faced with the challenge of pursuing the advancement of national income or the maintenance and conservation of their foreign exchange. The historical trend of instability across African countries may increase due to new oil and gas findings.

In Tunisia, there is a humble amount of oil and gas, compared to its neighboring countries, such as Algeria. There is proven reserve of recoverable oil in Tunisia amounting to 425 million barrels, according to certain authorities. Furthermore, the country is recognized to contain a number of cubic feet of gas. Nonetheless, previous rallies about the how oil and gas will affect the economy, governance and security in Tunisia continue to haunt the security issue about this subject.

Kenya's oil and gas reserves are not yet clearly known, for the moment. However, there are current exploration activities being done in the country On a lighter note, Tanzania is acknowledged as a forthcoming top gas producer by the United Nations. At present, 55% of Tanzania's foreign exchange earnings come from the oil and gas industry. Uganda recently established itself as a worthy member of Africa's circle of oil and gas producing countries. Uganda only had five hydrocarbon deposits extensively investigated. There is not presence of hydrocarbon in Togo. Since Togo does not have sources for oil and gas, they are mostly involved with certain activities like petroleum marketing, importation, distribution and transportation. Despite of the fact that Togo does not have enough oil and gas resources compared to their neighboring countries, significant oil companies still continue to operate in Togo. Swaziland is not gifted with oil and gas sources. Swaziland is dependent on importation of oil and gas from their neighboring countries like South Africa which supplies them of 40% of their total oil and gas source.

Sudan and South Sudan have a vast number of oil reserves, but after the two areas parted, most of the oil reserves fell under South Sudan territory. North Sudan has been conducting several explorations in their country to look for oil resources to compensate for the ones they lost after dividing from South Sudan. Oil and gas was the focal issue in the Sudanese divide, which was left up to the African Union to resolve.

There are still many countries and many issues that are involved in the overall subject concerning oil and gas in Africa. | The subject concerning oil and gas in Africa have are made up of many countries and sub-issues. Oil and gas in Africa are made of layers and storied, the things mentioned above was a mere synopsis of the oil and gas condition in some parts of Africa.
