The Different Types Of Life Insurance Lake Charles LA

By Susan Baker

Assurance agents have approached numerous people about investing in life insurance. Do you believe that this insurance is an asset or a liability? I will discuss this assurance, which I think is one of the best ways to protect your family. Do you buy term insurance or permanent insurance is the main question that people should consider? Read along to get acquainted with the concept of life insurance Lake Charles LA.

Many people choose term assurance because it is the cheapest and provides the most coverage for a stated period of time. People are living longer so term cover may not always be the best investment for everyone. If a person selects the 30 year term option they have the longest period of coverage but that would not be the best for a person in their 20's because if a 25 year old selects the 30 year term policy then at age 55 the term would end.

Restricted Payment Whole Life assurance: This is the kind of arrangement that will permit you to just pay premiums over a predetermined time-frame. This implies in the event that you just need to pay premiums for around twenty to thirty years or up until age 65 or 85; this is the sort of strategy that you need. Since premium installments will be paid over a predetermined time-frame, your top notch installments will be fundamentally higher, however after you complete them you will be secured forever.

Term policy is considered temporary cover and can be beneficial when a person is starting out life. Many term policies have the ability of being converted to a permanent policy if the insured person deems it necessary in the near future.

When looking for an insurer or policy, try to avoid captive assurance agents. Only consider an agent that represents 50 assurance companies to the minimum. Ensure to request them for various company quotes on a comparison basis. That said, it does not mean that you completely cut-out the agents. Some agents are well connected and with sound knowledge of the provisions of a variety of companies. They can thus offer you sound expert advice.

While the cost of entire span is considerably higher than a term approach with a similar demise advantage it is vital to remember that the explanation behind the distinction in cost is that the passing advantage for the entire life arrangement will in all likelihood be paid out.

This is a unique part of the whole policy that other types of cover cannot be designed to perform. Assurance polices should not be sold because of the cash value accumulation but in periods of extreme monetary needs you don't need to borrow from a third party because you can borrow from your assurance policy in case of an emergency.

In the late 80's and 90's insurers sold products called universal life policies which were supposed to provide cover for your whole living span. The reality is that these types of policies were poorly designed and many lapsed because as interest rates lowered, the policies didn't perform well. Clients were thus forced to send additional premiums or the policy lapsed.

Illinois Flag And Its History

By Alfred Long

Before Illinois became a State, it was known as the Illinois Territory. In early 1818, the General Assembly of the Illinois Territory sent a petition to the United States Congress asking to be admitted into the Union. Part of the process for being admitted as a State was for Illinois to adopt its own constitution.

The word Illinois comes from the French word meaning Illini or Land of Illini. It is an Algonquin word meaning Men or Warriors. Illinois was discovered in 1673, settled in 1720 and entered the Union on December 3, 1818. Illinois is surrounded by bodies of water on nearly every border: the Mississippi River on the west; the Ohio and Wabash Rivers in the south, and Lake Michigan in the North.

The Northwest Ordinance of 1787 charted this region and organized counties, and in 1809, the Territory of Illinois was created. During the early years of settlement by fur trappers, southern Illinois was the focus of migration to the area, especially along the Mississippi River valley and the Wabash and Ohio rivers. There had been 2 state banners for Illinois. The plan of the Illinois Flag was allocated in 1915, as a consequence of the state pennant planning effort by Mrs. Ella Park Lawrence. Next in 1868, the strip was changed to give more conspicuousness to the National Union, than State Sovereignty. The last alteration of the Illinois Flag was done in 1970 when the state name was presented.

The state seal as seen on the Illinois Flag was enlivened from the US seal, accordingly, the bald eagle remains for the United States. The 13 stars and 13 stripes symbolize the 13 unique provinces of the US, in this way communicating the fidelity of Illinois to the US. The year 1868 is the year when the Illinois state seal was given another plan while 1818 uncovers the year when Illinois achieved statehood. The water body exhibit on the seal is an image of Lake Michigan, one of the 5 Great Lakes. The land revolving around the stone speaks of the prolific Prairie soil.

Beneath the seal, the name of the state, Illinois, scripted in the Flag of Illinois . The seal bears the picture of a bald eagle, fastening with its paws, a shield with 13 stripes and stars each. The hawk is additionally appeared to be getting a handle on in its mouth a red lace, with the state motto, "State Sovereignty, National Union." The stone on which the bird is mounted shows the years 1868 and 1818.

Below the seal the name of the state, that is, Illinois is scripted in the Flag of Illinois . The seal bears the image of a bald eagle, clasping with its claws, a shield with 13 stripes and stars each. The eagle is also shown to be grasping in its mouth a red ribbon, with the state motto, "State Sovereignty, National Union." The rock on which the eagle is mounted displays the years 1868 and 1818. History Of Idaho Flag

By Alfred Nott

Adjacent to Washington and Oregon in the Pacific Northwest, Idaho is a big state. It’s been said if you flatten all the mountains in Idaho, the state would be the size of Texas. Idaho covers two time zones, runs from Canada to Nevada, and encompasses the western side of the continental divide of the Rocky Mountains. Rivers, mountains, and farmland dominate the state’s landscape. The panhandle has emerald green hillsides, timbered mountains, and pristine lakes. Central Idaho is covered with jagged peaks.

Between 1900 and 1920, a large number of Basque immigrants came to Idaho from the Pyrenees to work as sheepherders. Today, Boise, Idaho's capital, has the largest Basque community in the United States. Idaho was the first state in the nation to elect a Jewish governor. Moses Alexander was elected in 1914 and re-elected in 1916.

The Idaho Flag was adopted on 15th March in 1927 for the first time though its origins can be traced back to 1907. The present Idaho Flag was effective from 1st March 1957. The Legislature of Idaho made certain modifications on the Idaho State seal in order to stress on the chief industries of Idaho, which are mining, forestry and agriculture. The state of Idaho became the 43rd state of the US on 3rd July 1890. The designer of the state seal was Emma Edwards-Green, the only American woman to ever design the official seal of a US state.

March 5, 1866, Idaho Territory adopted its first official seal, representing mountains below a new moon, a steamer on the Shoshone River, figures of Liberty and Peace, an elk’s head, and agricultural produce. A similar seal, with a rising sun replacing the moon and a miner instead of Peace, was adopted for the new state on March 14, 1891, and appears today in the state flag. The 1891 state seal is the only such American design to have been created by a woman, Emma Edwards (later Emma Edwards Green).

The state seal on the Idaho Flag remains for the main principle and commercial enterprises of the state. The vegetables, foods grown from the ground pile of wheat speak of the farming in Idaho. The digger is symbolic of the state's mineral assets and mining industry. The lady remains for equity and freedom. The elk is a representation of the considerable number of types of fauna found in the state while the pine tree means the commonwealth and timber industry of Idaho.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Idaho flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Imported flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags made by American manufacturers. The Flag Company Inc specialized in flag designs offered a special edition of decals and flags to memorize the history of Idaho flag for the future.

Why Veteran Stories Are Important To Our History

By Margaret Schmidt

Military organizations, the United States government, and local and state governments are all cooperating in providing historical coverage for those who have fought in wars and other military operations. They have provided much to the country in terms of defending the rights, freedom and even lives. They have also protected American symbols, institutions and installations.

Wars have always meant hard times for all Americans. The entire country pulls together its resources, are united in providing morale to the troops, and will do everything short of being on the frontlines to see that they survive. After the battle, veterans are party to a support network and need to have their stories compiled by Veteran Stories College Station TX.

More and more people have taken to heart the efforts to fill out the stories of each individual who have served in wars fought by the US. All personal stories are considered part of military history. And there are not that many veterans left who fought in earlier wars that the country fought.

To preserve their unique stories, citizens of the city College Station TX have made their own efforts at making interviews, records and relevant interactions with veterans. There is no better time than right now. Because there have not been earlier collective efforts for past wars, memories of dedicated soldiers have been lost to history.

Institutions that provide recording services like national libraries, archives and the Smithsonian Institution have provided impetus for gathering all the stories of individuals who have fought in wars. There are many of these in Texas, and the majority have remained silent for a long time. It is about time for them to be heard, and their experiences shared among the people, because these heroes deserve at least that much.

Most everyone knows somebody who has served in the armed services. Some may know one who is alive or actively serving. For anyone concerned, it is the constant need for democracy to be defended at any price that is the abiding belief. New studies made for the Vietnam War has provided greater insight into the motivations of veterans.

With the recent operations connected to the War on Terror, many professionals in the field of psychology and history have banded together for a great collective effort in accessing everything that can be studied in relation to military history. The main reason for it is to make the lives of former soldiers better. Plus, archiving can be vastly improved and any story has its lessons that can be learned to make less war and more peace.

It is not merely the statues and memorials that make everyone honor or cherish the memories of those who have fought. Most of these have already died a long time ago, or died on the battlefield. Now, the main thrust of the effort has been to honor and dignify those who have made the sacrifice of fighting but have survived to tell the tale.

The responsibility of every American might that of seeing veterans in a new way. In a more justified way, to give them more hope and encouragement. They should be inspired to tell their stories instead of just fading into the background. This should not be seen heroic, but rather a dereliction of their duty. Because when their stories are opened up for all men and women, many lessons will be learned that will built the road to peace.

Colorado State Flag History

By Jack Lindon

Colorado, which joined the union as the 38th state in 1876, is America's eighth largest state in terms of land mass. Located in the Rocky Mountain region of the western United States, the state's abundant and varied natural resources attracted the ancient Pueblo peoples and, later, the Plains Indians.

When the first settlers came to Colorado, the Ute lived in the mountain areas, while the Comanche, Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Kiowa inhabited the Great Plains. Warfare between plains and mountain ethnic groups was continuous. The tribes of the plains combined their forces in 1840 to halt the invasion of their homelands and hunting grounds by settlers, and violence ensued. The warfare finally culminated in the Native Americans' defeat after the Indian Wars (1861â€"69) and the Buffalo War (1873â€"74). Colorado's Native Americans now live mainly on the Southern Ute reservation and in the Denver area.

While Colorado was seeking to establish a government and engaged in conflict with Native Americans, the state's mining boom was in sharp decline. The surface gold had been extracted in the middle 1860s, and mining areas became, and in many cases remain, studded with ghost townsâ€"machinery abandoned and shacks deserted. Other towns, such as Central City with its famous opera house dating from the city's days of opulence, managed to stay alive.

The Colorado State Flag was designed by Andrew Carlisle Johnson and adopted by the Colorado General Assembly on June 5, 1911. The flag specifications seemed clear enough when adopted but modification to the legislation was required in 1929 and in 1964.

The red, white, and blue of the U.S. Banner show up in the Colorado banner, as do the blue, yellow, and white of the columbine. The area's broad stores of gold and silver, which conveyed numerous early pioneers to the region which still are effectively mined, are reflected in the yellow and white of the banner.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Colorado flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Imported flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags made by American manufacturers. The Flag Company Inc specialized in flag designs offered a special edition of decals and flags to memorize the history of Colorado flag for the future.

Flag Of Georgia State Today

By Garry Snow

In many ways, Georgia's history is integrally linked to that of the rest of the South and the rest of the nation. But as the largest state east of the Mississippi, the youngest and southernmost of the thirteen colonies, and by 1860, the most populous southern state, Georgia is in certain respects historically distinctive.

As more people settled in the colony of Georgia, the Spanish in the Florida area became increasingly uneasy at the growing British presence. On July 7, 1742, Oglethorpe, then "General and Commander in Chief of the Forces of South Carolina and Georgia", defeated the Spanish at the Battle of Bloody Marsh on St. Simons Island, removing the Spanish threat to Georgia. In 1743, General Oglethorpe sailed for England never to return to Georgia.

In 1864, Union General William Tecumseh Sherman invaded Georgia, captured Atlanta and began his infamous March to the Sea, cutting a 200-mile-wide swath of fire and destruction reaching all the way to Savannah. Georgia's landscape varies greatly as it sweeps from the Appalachian Mountains in the north to the marshes of the Atlantic coast on the southeast to the Okefenokee Swamp on the south.

The historical backdrop of the banners that have flown over or were expected to fly over the State of Georgia is a long one with numerous unanswered inquiries. Numerous planned outlines were never executed. Numerous statutory outlines were changed by configuration.

On May 8th, 2003, the new Georgia flag above was approved. The new design displays two red stripes, one white stripe, and a blue field upper left. The state's official coat of arms (on the blue field) is surrounded by 13 white stars, symbolic of Georgia being one of the original 13 colonies. On the seal itself, three pillars support an arch, representing the legislative, judicial and executive branches of government. A standing man with a sword was drawn is defending the U.S. Constitution.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Georgia State flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Imported flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags made by American manufacturers. The Flag Company Inc And Connecticut Flag

By Amalia Diklak

Connecticut is bordered by two major East Coast states, Massachusetts and New York, and serves as a suburb for many of their city workers. Connecticut has been historically important due to its major waterways and easy access to the Atlantic Ocean. Native Americans of Connecticut belonged to many of the Algonquian Indian family, the Pequot tribe being the strongest.

The Connecticut state flag displays the Arms of the State on each side. It measures five feet, six inches long and four feet, four inches wide. The field is azure blue; the armorial bearing (shield) is argent white and described by law as "rococo design." Rococo refers to style distinguished by fancy curves and elaborate ornamentation.

Three supported grape vines are depicted on the shield, each bearing three bunches of grapes. The rococo shield is outlined in gold and silver and is decorated with clusters of white oak leaves and acorns. A white streamer, cleft at each end and bordered in gold and brown, is displayed below the shield. The motto of the state of Connecticut is lettered in dark blue on the streamer. It reads Qui Transtulit Sustinet (He who transplanted still sustains).

The shield bears the photos of 3 grape vines supporting 3 groups of dim grapes. The edges of the shield are designed with gatherings of oak seeds and white oak leafs. Underneath the seal, a parted white lace with cocoa and gold fringes, bears the state motto of Connecticut. The 3 groups of grapes stand for the 3 provinces of Saybrook, New Haven, and Connecticut, which together shaped Connecticut in 1665. Vines are connected with ceaseless fellowships and grapes are said to be harbingers of favorable circumstances. The oak leaves and oak seeds are capable images of ancient history, perseverance, and vitality.

It is thought by some that the number of supported grape vines represents three colonies, New Haven, Saybrook and Connecticut (Hartford), which merged as "Connecticut" by 1665. Grapes are symbolic of good luck, felicity and peace--evidence of God's kindness and the goodness of providence. Vines represent strong and lasting friendships. Of course, grape vines are often associated with wine makers.

The Connecticut Flag is symbolic of the history of the state and bears the magnificent Arms of the State on either side. There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Connecticut flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Imported flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags made by American manufacturers. The Flag Company Inc And Delaware Flag

By Alexander Black

Delaware, constituent state of the United States of America. The first of the original 13 states to ratify the federal Constitution, it occupies a small niche in the Bostonâ€"Washington, D.C., urban corridor along the Middle Atlantic seaboard. It ranks 49th among the 50 U.S. states in terms of total area and is one of the most densely populated. The state is organized into three countiesâ€"from north to south, New Castle, Kent, and Sussexâ€"all established by 1682.

August 28, 1609-The Spanish and Portuguese are believed to have made explorations of the Delaware coastline in the early sixteenth century (as early as 1526!). However, Henry Hudson-an English navigator under the employ of the Dutch East India Trading Company is credited with the discovery of what would become known as the Delaware River and the Delaware Bay.

According to the Delaware Flag Law, the Delaware Flag is a field of colonial blue with a buff colored diamond pattern in the center. The significant coat of arms of the Delaware state is placed just on the diamond. This emblem bears the pictures of a ship, corn, wheat and an ox.

There is a soldier holding a rifle and a farmer holding a hoe. Below it is a white ribbon, which reads liberty and independence. Beneath it is the inscription December 7, 1787, the date when Delaware became the 1st state to ratify to the Constitution of US. The shades used on the flag has to be exactly the ones mentioned by the law.

As portrayed by the first commission individuals who outlined the banner, the tones of blue and buff are representations of the ones present in General George Washington's uniform. On the shield of the Delaware Flag, the boat reflects the state's rich trade, the bull, corn, wheat and agriculturists reflect cultivating and cows farming. The trooper on the Delaware Flag pays respect to the Revolutionary War Soldiers.

History Of Flag Of West Virginia

By Amanda Watson

West Virginia was admitted to the Union as a Free State with the confirmation that in present state the servitude would be eliminated. President Lincoln endorsed the statehood bill for West Virginia on January 1, 1863. On April 20, 1863, West Virginia has declared a State, viable 60 days, after the fact on, June 20, 1863.

In the midst of the Civil War, turmoil was everywhere and it wasn't until September that West Virginia adopted its official State Seal, its coat of arms the most prominent component of the State flag. Another prominent component of the State flag is West Virginia's State flower big laurel (Rhododendron maximum), adopted in 1903.

The following year, 1904, St. Louis, Missouri staged an exposition, "The Louisiana Purchase Exposition," also know as the Saint Louis World's Fair. West Virginia needed to send a flag to the exposition to represent itself. A white flag with blue borders that featured the State flower on the obverse side (front) and the West Virginia coat of arms on the reverse side (back) was created.

This flag was not an official representative of the State of West Virginia when it appeared at the exposition, but on February 24, 1905, the West Virginia Legislature made it so. Evidently, this design sparked some discontent and, two years, later on, February 25, 1907, changes were officially approved. The coat of arms was moved to the obverse side (front) of the flag and the big laurel was moved to the reverse side (back) of the flag.

Above the coat-of-arms is a ribbon lettered "State of West Virginia." A wreath of the state flower, Rhododendron, is arranged appropriately around the lower part of the coat-of-arms. When used for parade purposes, the flag of West Virginia should be trimmed with gold-colored fringe on three sides. When used on ceremonial occasions along with the United States flag, the West Virginia flag should be trimmed and mounted like the United States flag with regard to the fringe, cord, tassels and mounting. West Virginia adopted its present state flag by Senate Joint Resolution Number 18, approved by the Legislature on March 7, 1929.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior West Virginia flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Flag Company Inc And Alaska Flag

By Amalia Denilson

The largest state (in the area) of the United States, Alaska was admitted to the union as the 49th state in 1959 and lies at the extreme northwest of the North American continent. Acquired by the United States in 1867, the territory was dubbed "Seward's Folly" after U.S. Secretary of State William Seward, who arranged to purchase the land from Russia.

But in 1926, Territorial Governor George Parks thought having a flag would help Alaska become a state. He persuaded the Alaska American Legion to hold a contest open to all Alaskan children grades 7 â€" 12 to design Alaska’s new flag. By January of 1927, the contest rules were circulated to schools throughout the territory. One of the students participating in the contest was thirteen-year-old Benny Benson.

Of the 142 submissions, a panel of judges all agreed that Benny Benson’s design of eight stars of gold placed on a field of blue was the winner. In May 1927, the two houses of the territorial legislature adopted the flag design. Alaskans flew the flag for the first time on July 9, 1927.

Where others chose to represent the state with the help of polar bears and icebergs on the flag, Benny used his imagination in an unusual way. His Alaska flag had a blue background symbolizing the sky as well as the Forget-me-not flower. The 8 gold stars stood for the Big Dipper and the Pole star.

The blue background represents the sky, sea, mountains and the beautiful Forget-Me-Not flowers of Alaska. Eight gold stars are then placed to represent the Big Dipper star group and the North Star. The Big Dipper is part of the Ursa Major constellation, otherwise known as the Great Bear which represents strength. The biggest and brightest star farthest on the flag embodies the North Star and signifies Alaska being the most north while also looking forward to the future of the state.

Flag Company Inc The Flag Of Florida

By Adam Sirvestry

Florida, which joined the union as the 27th state in 1845, is nicknamed the Sunshine State and known for its balmy climate and natural beauty. Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon, who led the first European expedition to Florida in 1513, named the state in tribute to Spain’s Easter celebration known as “Pascua Florida,” or Feast of Flowers.

The next state flag was established on January 13, 1861, following the secession of Florida from the Union. The design, prescribed by the commander of the state’s armed forces, was similar in many respects to the Stars and Stripes; it consisted of 13 red and white horizontal stripes and a white star on a blue canton.

The next flag, dating to September 13, 1861, was based on the Stars and Bars of the Confederacy; it had red-white-red horizontal stripes and a vertical blue stripe bearing an elaborate seal.

Between 1868 and 1900, Florida's state flag consisted of a white field with the state seal in the center. During the late 1890s, Governor Francis P. Fleming suggested that a red cross be added, so that the banner did not appear to be a white flag of truce or surrender when hanging still on a flagpole.

Today the cross on the Florida state banner gets from the Confederate Battle Flag. The State Seal on the banner elements a Native American Seminole lady diffusing blossoms, a steamboat, a cabbage palmetto tree and a splendid sun. The Florida state flag represents the land of sunshine, flowers, palm trees, rivers, and lakes la Florida.

California Flag And Its History

By Alexander Black

On June 14, 1846, a small band of settlers marched on the Mexican garrison at Sonoma and took the commandant prisoner. They issued a proclamation which declared California to be a Republic independent of Mexico. This uprising became known as the Bear Flag Revolt (after the hastily-designed flag depicting a grizzly bear and a five pointed star over a red bar and the words "California Republic."

The flag was officially named the state flag in 1911 with its design standardized in 1953. In addition, the 1953 state flag law made the flag’s nickname official by stating that the “Bear Flag is the State Flag of California.”

The California flag depicts a five-pointed star in the upper left corner, a grizzly bear in the center, the words “California Republic” below the bear in gold, sans-serif font, and a red bar stretching along the bottom.

Its leader, Ezekiel Merrit, was described by historian H.H. Bancroft as "an unprincipled, whiskey drinking, quarrelsome fellow." Known as Stuttering Merrit, he was a thief who in 1848 reportedly stole 200 pounds of gold from his business partner.

The bear on California’s flag represents the grizzly bears that were common in California at the time and are much less common today. The bold words “California Republic” were placed to firmly establish California as an independent state apart from Mexico. The red strip along the bottom of the California flag is simply a design element and does not have a specific meaning.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior California flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Arkansas State Flag And Flag Company Inc

By John Abraham

The Arkansas flag was created in 1913 when the Battleship U.S.S. Arkansas was commissioned. The Daughters of the American Revolution discovered that there was no state flag to present to ship with (presenting a flag to ships was traditional). They decided to hold a flag designing competition. Miss Willie Hocker of Wabbaseka designed the winning flag which looked much like the flag we fly today. The original flag was a white diamond on a red field bordered by twenty-five white stars on a blue band.

Three blue stars in a straight line were centered in the diamond. Miss Hocker explained that the three colors (red, white and blue) designated Arkansas as a member of the Union. The diamond shape signified Arkansas as the only state in North America where diamonds had been found and mined. The three stars in the center of the diamond had three meanings.

The flag's colors are the same as the national flag of the United States and represent Arkansas as one of the states in the Union. The 25 white stars signify that Arkansas was the 25th state admitted to the union of the United States.

The diamond represents Arkansas as the first diamond producing a state in the US. The three blue stars together in the diamond have three meanings: They represent the three countries Arkansas has belonged to Spain, France, and the United States.

Because adding the fourth star made the flag look asymmetrical (the bottom three stars were still arranged in a straight line) the legislator also offsets one of the stars at the bottom giving us the flag we fly today.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Arkansas flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Alabama Flag History And Flag Company Inc

Alabama, which joined the union as the 22nd state in 1819, is situated in the southern United States and nicknamed the "Heart of Dixie." Europeans came to this place in the sixteenth century. In the nineteenth century, cotton and slave work were vital to Alabama's economy.

The Alabama State Flag was approved by the Alabama Legislature on February 16, 1895. The state banner was to be a blood-red cross of St. Andrew on a field of white. The Alabama State Flag was endorsed by the Alabama Legislature on February 16, 1895. The state standard was to be a crimson cross of St. Andrew on a field of white. Consistently, there has been many hypotheses over the condition of the Alabama state flag. Dr. Thomas Owen, head of the Alabama Department of Archives and History deduced that the flag should be square, considering the "regulations directing the Confederate battle flag."

On January 11, 1861, the Secession Convention passed a determination allocating a flag made by Montgomery women as the official pennant. This flag has consistently been insinuated as the Republic of Alabama Flag. One side of the flag demonstrated the Goddess of Liberty holding in her right hand an unsheathed sword; in the left a flag with one star.

Reminiscent of the Confederate battle flag, it was designated that the crimson bars were not to be less than six inches broad and were to extend diagonally across the flag. Because Act 383 did not specify a particular format, the flag is sometimes depicted as a square and at other times depicted as a rectangle.

Pennsylvania Flag And Its History

By Jack Richmond

The Pennsylvania flag was adopted in the year 1907, by the State General Assembly, when an act describing the proper design of the flag was accepted and standardized.

In 2007, the State House of Representatives passed legislation to add “Pennsylvania” to the bottom of the flag in golden letters. However, as of 2015, the state Senate has taken no action on the bill.

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania flag is composed of the state’s coat of arms embroidered in the center of a dark blue background. The Pennsylvania coat of arms depicts two horses with red harnesses, one on either side, standing on their hind legs facing a shield. The shield depicts the strengths of Pennsylvania â€" a ship carrying commerce, a farming plow, and three sheaves of wheat. Perched atop the shield is an eagle. Directly below the shield is an olive branch and a corn stalk crossing limbs. At the bottom of the coat of arms is a banner that reads “Virtue, liberty, Independence” â€" the state’s motto.

The current flag dates from June 13, 1907. Pennsylvania is the second state of the union, gaining statehood on Dec. 12, 1787. It is one of the original 13 colonies that united to form the union of the United States. Pennsylvania's state nickname is the Keystone State.

The coat of arms in the center of the flag symbolizes Pennsylvania’s strengths. It features sheaves of wheat, a farming plow, and a corn stalk â€" all symbolizing agricultural prowess. The ship on the shield symbolizes strong trade in the state while an olive branch below the shield represents peace and prosperity.

The Flag Company Inc And Arizona Flag

By Gary Lock

The origin of the Arizona Flag goes back to the National Rifle Matches held at Camp Perry in 1910. This event happened before Arizona had become an official member of the Union. Every state rifle team carried its individual emblem nor flag. This concept gave birth to an idea in the minds of the Arizona Rifle Team members, who did not possess any flag.

Members of the visiting Arizona Rifle Team noticed that all of the other "state" rifle teams carried flags or emblems. The Arizona team had no such flag or emblem and brought this to the attention of Arizona National Guard Colonel Charles Wilfred Harris, who was serving as the team captain. The team suggested that a flag is created to represent the Arizona Rifle Team at future National Rifle Matches.

The idea for the design of the flag was considered by Colonel Harris and Carl Hayden. Their first requirements for the layout were that it contain real qualities and that its tones should mirror those qualities.

The Arizona Flag measures 6 feet in width and 4 feet in height and is equally divided into 2 halves, with a bright copper colored star, right in the center. There are 13 alternating rays of red and golden yellow from the left to the right on the top half of the flag.

The blue, red, yellow and copper standard was accepted disregarding different differing votes and subsequently Governor Campbell's refusal to sign the bill. Since Arizona is a western part, the beams exhibit a setting sun. The shades of the beams demonstrate red and yellow in the Spanish standards passed on by Coronado when he came to Arizona in 1540. Arizona's main enterprises and attractions are represented in the seal. In the background of the seal is a range of mountains with the sun rising behind the peaks. At the right side of the mountains are a water storage reservoir and a dam, with irrigated fields and orchards. There are cattle grazing on the right, a quartz mill and a miner with a pick and shovel on the left. Above the drawing is the Arizona state motto.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Arizona flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. History Of Peru Flag

By Lorra Needle

Peru was once part of the great Incan Empire and later the major vice-royalty of Spanish South America. It was conquered in 1531-1533 by Francisco Pizarro. On July 28, 1821, Peru proclaimed its independence, but the Spanish were not finally defeated until 1824. For a hundred years thereafter, revolutions were frequent; a new war was fought with Spain in 1864-1866, and an unsuccessful war was fought with Chile from 1879 to 1883 (the War of the Pacific).

According to Peruvian writer Abraham Valdelomar, San Martín chose the red and white colors after having witnessed parihuanas -- flamingos with red wings and white chests -- along with the southern coast of Peru. A more prosaic but perhaps more realistic reason behind the color selection would be a mirroring of the former flag of the Viceroyalty of Peru (the Spanish Cross of Burgundy), which featured a red saltire, or diagonal cross, on a white background.

On February 25, 1825, the design now in use was established. The red-white-red vertical stripes from the previous flag were retained, but the sun was replaced by a new coat of arms. Its shield is framed by one wreath (of palm and laurel branches) and surmounted by another.

Another great liberator, Simón Bolívar, introduced a fourth and final design (as used today) on February 25, 1825. This flag used the same vertical triband design as introduced by José Bernardo de Tagle, but with the Peruvian coat of arms replacing the central sun.

The second quartering has a cinchona tree, the bark of which is used to make quinine. Finally, the bottom half of the shield displays a cornucopia from which spill gold and silver coins, symbolic of the nation’s mineral wealth. In addition, the white stripe of the flag is said to represent purity, and the red recalls the blood of patriots. As in a number of other countries, the civil flag flown by private citizens displays only the stripes, the coat of arms being reserved for flags serving official (i.e., government) purposes.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Peru flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Some flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags. The Flag Company Inc And Philippines

By Amanda Smith

There are two theories on the origins of the first Filipinos, the inhabitants of what will later be called the Philippine Islands and eventually the Republic of the Philippines.

The 1898 overthrow of Spanish authority by the United States led Filipinos to believe that their country’s independence, proclaimed on June 12, 1898, was guaranteed. A national flag quite different from the revolutionary banners used a few years before was adopted. At the hoist was a white triangle, symbolic of liberty and probably derived from Masonic symbolism.

It bore a golden sun and three golden stars, standing for the three main areas in the Philippinesâ€"the Luzon group of islands in the north, the Visayan group in the south, and the main southern island of Mindanao. The eight sun rays were for the provinces where the original anti-Spanish revolt had broken out. The remainder of the flag consisted of horizontal stripes of blue (for the willingness to sacrifice oneself for freedom) over red (for courage).

The first republic was finally suppressed by the United States, and its flag was outlawed between 1907 and 1920. In 1936 the new Commonwealth of the Philippines adopted that flag in anticipation of eventual independence. Under Japanese occupation, the Philippine flag was first forbidden and then officially recognized on October 14, 1943, when the Japanese-controlled second republic was proclaimed. Filipinos opposed to Japanese rule displayed the flag with the blue stripe down and the red stripe up (i.e., they hoisted the flag upside down).

The blue stripe symbolizes patriotism and justice. The red represents valor and the blood shed for freedom and independence and the white stands for peace and purity. The white triangle represents equality and the Katipunan nationalist organization. The three stars represent the three main geographical regions of the Philippines: Luzon, Mindanao, and the Visayas. The sun represents independence and its eight rays represent the eight provinces that led the Philippine uprising against Spanish rule.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Philippines flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Poland Flag History And The Flag Company Inc

By Albert Derrick

Poland has had a long and rich history. Over the past thousand years, the country has defended its freedom and sovereignty from foreign aggressions on numerous occasions. Due to country’s geopolitical location between the East and the West, Polish history is marked with wars and uprisings. There was a time when Poland was the largest country in Europe but there was also a stage when it was totally erased from the world map for over a hundred years.

Thanks to the resilience and pride of the people who value freedom above all, Poland has not only managed to overcome troubles but also has been offering its own contribution to European history and culture.

The same pattern was revived after World War I by many Polish nationalist organizations. The red flag with a white eagle was ultimately rejected, however, in favour of a simple horizontal bicolour of white over red adopted on August 1, 1919. The Polish state disappeared from 1939 to 1944 during the Nazi conquest of Europe, but communist-led forces, backed by the Soviet Red Army, returned the white-red flag to Poland. Nevertheless a change was made in the Polish coat of arms: the golden crown that had long appeared on the head of the eagle disappeared.

In the year 1830 to 1831, tricolor cockades which are composed of white, red and blue are worn by soldiers. The red and white combination is also worn by most soldiers. Because of the lack of uniformity on the cockades of Polish soldiers, the white and red combination was finally adopted as their official cockade. This adaptation happened on the 7th day of February 1831.

The flag of Poland consists of two horizontal halves - the top half is white and the bottom half is red. The colors of the Polish flag are based on the colors of the national coat of arms which is a white eagle on a red shield and dates back to 13th century. The red symbolizes the blood shed in the country's fight for independence and the white symbolizes peace. Since 2004, May 2nd is celebrated as Flag Day in Poland but it isn't a public holiday.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Poland flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Some flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags. Rhode Island Flag And Its History

By Garry White

Rhode Island, measuring only about 48 miles long and 37 miles wide, is the smallest of the U.S. states. Despite its small area, Rhode Island, known as the "Ocean State," boasts over 400 miles of coastline. Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams in 1636, who had been banished from the Massachusetts colony for his advocacy of religious tolerance and the separation of church and state.

The Rhode Island state flag displays a yellow anchor encircled by thirteen stars of the same color on a white background, fringed on three sides by yellow. A blue ribbon then sits beneath the anchor which reads ‘Hope.’

The anchor may reference the state’s geographical ties to the sea along with its history of using water for commerce. The word ‘Hope’ on the flag’s ribbon is thought to be linked to the anchor in that it is believed to have come from the biblical phrase ‘Hope we have as an anchor of the soul’.

On February 1, 1882, that flag was replaced by a simpler designâ€"a blue field with a yellow anchor surrounded by a ring of 13 yellow stars, corresponding to the rank of the state among those ratifying the U.S. Constitution. On May 19, 1897, the current flag was substituted.

The white and blue colors were taken from flags carried into battle by Rhode Island soldiers during the American Revolution, the War of 1812 and the Mexican War. The 13 stars surrounding the anchor represent the 13 original colonies that united to form the union of the United States. The anchor has been linked as a symbol with Rhode Island since the state's foundation and it has been used with the state motto 'Hope' since 1644.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Rhode Island flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Imported flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags made by American manufacturers. The Flag Company Inc And Uruguay Flag

By Whitney James

For much of its early colonial history, when it is known as the Banda Oriental ('east bank' of the Uruguay river), the region of Uruguay functions mainly as an unsettled buffer zone between hostile neighbors - the Portuguese to the north in Brazil, the Spanish to the west and south in Argentina.

As part of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata (formed in 1816), the Banda Orientalâ€"which would eventually become the country known as Uruguayâ€"was originally under the blue-white-blue horizontally striped flag raised by General Manuel Belgrano in 1812.

However, like many other Argentine provinces, Uruguay developed a flag of its own. The earliest example, dating from January 13, 1815, had a red horizontal stripe added in the center of each blue stripe. On August 25 of that year, the flag was changed to equal horizontal stripes of blue-white-red.

The flag of Uruguay features nine stripes of alternating white and blue, with white on the top and bottom stripes. In the upper-left corner of the flag, the canton is white with a golden sun, which has sixteen rays of sunshine. The sun, called the Sun of May, is a national symbol of Uruguay, representing the Inca sun god Inti.

The sun emblem is the 'Sun of May'; it is a symbol of freedom and independence. The nine stripes represent the nine provinces of Uruguay, which existed at the time of the flag's creation. The colors of the Uruguay flag were inspired by the flag of Argentina; while the United States national flag influenced the design.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Uruguay flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Some flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags. The Flag Company Inc And Portugal Flag

By Bob Gales

The national flag of Portugal was officially adopted on the 30th day of June 1911. It is known to be a rectangular bicolor, with red and green for its national color combination. The colors are divided unevenly, with red on the fly and green on the hoist. The boundary between the two colors is designed with the Portuguese coat of arms.

The present Portuguese flag (Bandeira Nacional) was adopted in 1911. The flag of Portugal consists of two unequal rectangles of green and red with the yellow Portuguese coat of arms and shield in the center. The red and green colors are associated with the Portuguese Republican Party, which overthrew the monarchy in 1910.

The red section represents the Portuguese revolution of 1910 and the green represents hope. The white shield consists of five blue shields with five white dots. The blue shields represent the first king of Portugal, Afonso Henriques I, victory over five Moorish kings and the divine assistance he received to do so is represented by the five dots, which symbolize the five wounds of Christ.

Arranged in across the shields represent Christianity. The red border featuring seven castles symbolizes the extension of Portugal's territory to include the Algarve. Behind the arms, there is a navigational instrument, an armillary sphere. It celebrates Prince Henry the Navigator, who initiated the maritime exploration that led to Portugal's one-time colonial empire.

The coat of arms of Portugal, which is imprinted on the place where both colors meet, also symbolizes the bravery of the Portuguese. The coat of arms is composed of a white shield that contains five small blue shields. The blue shields also have dots in them. The white shield is also seen to be a red shield which is surrounded by strips of yellow. It also has seven small yellow castles in it. The five blue shields within the coat of arms of Portugal are known to signify the defeat of five Moorish kings. These kings were conquered by the very first King of Portugal.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Portugal flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Some flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags. Puerto Rico Flag And Its History

By Megan Nills

Puerto Rico is quite commonly known as the 51st state of America although it is actually a commonwealth of the USA and not a state at all. The phrase ‘51st state’ is one that is often heard and refers to areas or locales which have been or are being seriously considered candidates for United States statehood. This has led to some confusion over how many states there really are!

The flag Puerto Rico was adopted on July in the year of 1952. The flag of Puerto Rico is comprised of five alternating white and red stripes, and a blue triangle on the hoist side, with a white star in the center of the triangle.

The flag was soon adopted as a national symbol. In 1898, the flag became the mark of resistance to the US invasion; and in the 1930s it was adopted by the Nationalist Party. When Puerto Rico became a Commonwealth on July 25, 1952, it was officially adopted as the national flag.

The flag of Puerto Rico comprises of five equal horizontal bands of red and white stripes. A blue isosceles triangle then sits on the hoist side bearing a large white five -pointed star.

The white star stands for the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico while the three sides of the equilateral triangle together represent the three branches of the Republican government (executive, legislative and judicial branches). The three red stripes symbolize the blood that feeds those parts of the government. The two white stripes symbolizing the rights of man and the freedom of the individual are a perpetual reminder of the need for vigilance of a democratic government is to be preserved.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Puerto Rico flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Some flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags. Romania Flag History Today

By Mark Peterson

Acquired last December 27, 1989, the flag of Romania boasts of its three colors that are incorporated in the flag in equal sizes of vertical stripes. The three vertical stripes include blue (left), red (right), and yellow (middle). These three colors are of great importance in Romania.

The current Romanian flag was adopted on December 27, 1989. A horizontal red, yellow, blue flag was introduced by nationalists in 1848. In 1861, Romania was established when Walachia and Moldavia united. The new Romanian country adopted a red (top), yellow (middle) and blue (bottom) horizontally striped flag.

The revolutions that swept Europe in 1848 first produced the modern Romanian tricolor, blue-yellow-red, although it had horizontal stripes and the inscription “Justice” in Walachian and “Brotherhood” in Moldavian in the center. This flag was used only briefly, but it became the basis for the modern tricolor.

The flag of Romania consists of three equal sized vertical stripes. The left stripe is blue, the middle one yellow and the right stripe is red. The red, yellow and blue stripes represent Moldova and Walachia, the two principalities that united to form Romania in 1859. The colors are found in the coat of arms of these former states.

When a revolution overthrew the communists, their emblem was removed from the flag (it was literally torn from many existing flags, leaving a hole in the center); the constitution, as modified in late December 1989, defined the Romanian tricolor simply as three vertical stripes of blue-yellow-red. The traditional (eagle) coat of arms was reestablished in 1992 but has not officially been added to the flag.

There is a barrage of cheap and inferior Romania flags being imported and sold, that do not comply with the flag statute. This is bad for a number of reasons. Some flags are cheaply made and more importantly, the designs, materials, colors, and methods of printing do not compare well with the better quality, longer-lasting, and correctly designed flags.
