A Brief Recap Of Mike Huckabee Policy Solutions

By Mattie Knight

As one of the large group of Republican contenders for their party's nomination for the 2016 Presidential campaign, Mike Huckabee has a polling level which doesn't put him in the top tier of candidates at present, but his record of performance as 44th Arkansas Governor proves he has experience in capturing the hearts of constituents. His record as governor in Arkansas lasted from 1996 until 2007. During his terms, he managed to impact the areas of health care, education, state road systems, job creation and tax cuts. Here are some of the Mike Huckabee policy solutions which would mark his term in office as the President of the United States.

According to the candidate, his first official act upon being sworn in as President will be to ensure that the veterans from military service will be cared for. He says those who have fought in foreign wars deserve top quality care and treatment. He plans to fix the Department of Veterans Affairs, and force bureaucrats and VA hospital officials to be held accountable for the crisis in disability claims and the unacceptable wait times. Help for veterans will include permanent careers and purpose. In particular, Huckabee wants to fight for mental health awareness and suicide prevention.

The Arkansas Governor has stated that he would abolish the current United States Tax Code and replace it with a "Fair Tax". Currently the Tax Code has over 75,000 pages and requires thousands of bureaucrats to administer it. In addition, there are attorneys who fight court cases over the regulations and private tax-preparation businesses who are involved in the operation of the Internal Revenue Service. Huckabee would get rid of the I. R. S. Completely. By replacing it with the Fair Tax, the tax base of the country would be broadened, the cost of administration would be dramatically reduced. Medicare and Social Security would be protected from raids on the funds.

On the subject of the 2nd Amendment, the candidate has views which are quite open and strong. He views the Amendment as a best defense against governmental tyranny. The governor was the second governor to obtain a license to carry a concealed handgun. He is proud to be a lifelong member of the NRA. Under his administration there would be no new gun control mandates, regulations, restrictions or laws.

Another point of contention among many of the candidates is the topic of Obamacare. Huckabee considers the legislation a disaster in the range of $2.2 trillion. He wants to repeal the legislation and replace it with a different type of health care. The approach under the Governor would be to provide care supporting wellness rather than illness. He is particularly opposed to the cost of $700 billion which was stolen from the Medicare system.

Immigration and border security is another issue which Mike Huckabee addresses in his policy solutions. He will reject Obama's unconstitutional executive orders, secure the border and oppose amnesty. He is emphatic about a return to be a nation of laws.

The Governor is supportive of Israel and common sense education policies formed at the local level. He urges a return to responsible spending policies.
